Hi Amal, Thanks for reply. We are creating/generating this PDF ourselves and as per PDF spec 1.7, we are writing /PrintScaling /None I could not find option in any tools i.e. Acrobat, Adobe PDF print driver, which allow to make default print size to "Actual size" option. Which is equivalent to writing "/PrintScaling /None" in pdf file. However it is always set to "Shrink oversize page", which is equivalent to "/PrintScaling /AppDefault" in most of the Adobe PDF generator Apps/tool. The question is why preflight do not honour "/PrintScaling /None" in its report. Thanks for Help. Thanks Rajeev

Hi, When i run Acrobat Preflight "Report PDF Syntax error" tool on attached simple PDF file, It reports "General File Format Error" that "The value associated with the key(PrintScaling) is incorrect". However the key and value written in PDF is as per PDF Spec i.e /PrintScaling /None Any help is appreciated. Is this a bug in Preflight or am i missing something ? Regards, Rajeev

Hi Dov, Updating Reader to latest version did not make any change, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC still crashes. Flattening is not an option for us, as we loose vector details. It looks like a bug in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (current versions), related to how memory is dealt/consumed. As older adobe products and other viewers are working fine. Thanks Rajeev

One of the Windows 10 m/c configuration, where Adobe Acrobat Reader DC crashes : OS version: 10.0.17134 Video Card: NVIDIA Quadro K4100M Video RAM : 4GB Display Resolution: 1920 x 1080 Processor:Intel Core i7-4800MQ CPU RAM: 16GB Sytem type: 64 bit OS one of the Windows 7 m/c configuration, where it opens fine is: OS version: 6.1.7601 service pack 1 7601 Video Card: NVIDIA Quadro 600 Video RAM: 1 GB Display Resolution : 1280 X 1024 Processor:Intel Xeon CPU ES-1620 RAM: 16GB System type:x64 based PC Adobe needs to look at how older Adobe products mentioned above open's fine on same Windows 10 m/c Also could you try same document with lesser RAM on Windows 10 and Windows 7 m/c. You mentioned Acrobat Pro DC (2019.010.20100), is it same as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC ? also does there exists newer version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC i.e. newer than "2019.010.20099" ? Hi, Multipage PDF file saved here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1gYJpEF_85FEC8FJMtenxOrPIFM8AiiBE crashes Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (version 2019.010.20099), when opened on Windows 10. It open's fine: - with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC when rendering flag in preferences "Use Page cache" is turned OFF on Windows 10 (by default it is ON) - with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (version 2019.010.20099), when opened on Windows 7 - with Adobe Reader X, XI - with Adobe Acrobat Pro extended 9.0 - with other PDF viewer e.g. google chrome, GSView etc. Any help is appreciated. Looked at SMask objects, they match exactly to the size of actual image objects. Do not see any discrepancy.

Its obvious that removing SMask objects,extraneous lines go away bcz then we are removing alpha/transparency. SMask objects are alpha values for each image object. I do no see any suspicious thing there, this is as per PDF spec. I will still encourage to chk things on viewer side.

Just another thought, if this line is an artifact, bcz of overlapping of semi-transparent images then should not width of this artifact line should become less/more wider with zoom-out/zoom-in. However Its size stays constant.

It does not look like that overlap mentioned above is in the creation of PDF. Pl. take a look at PDF content object and let us know, if there is any thing wrong going. I still think it is an Adobe Reader/Acrobat viewer artifact.

Thanks for reply. (2) I had the same impression earlier that images are overlapping at edges, but actually it is not. Pl. take a look at PDF content object and image objects, chk the sizes and positions (CTM) of each image , due attention is given that images common edge should not overlap. (1) Why Adobe Reader shows those lines, when print does not ?

Hi, I am facing same issue i.e. thin border is appearing around semi-transparent images in Adobe Reader as well as in Acrobat. Turning off AA option (i.e. "smooth images") does not help. Is there any other option, in need to look at ? Thanks
